Rangeland Improvement Program
A Costshare Program for the Musselshell Plains focus area
The Musselshell Plains encompasses 3,426,507 acres of private and public lands and is the focus area of the Winnett ACES Conservation Committee.
Winnett ACES has received additional grants from NFWF to help fund local, on-the-ground rangeland improvement projects in the Musselshell Plains. The purpose of the grant is to help local producers who want to improve their grazing system for the benefit of wildlife, the landscape, and livestock.
Projects that may qualify for cost-share funding include wildlife friendly fencing, developing additional water sources (pipelines and water tanks), and re-seeding cropland back to grassland. We have additional funding to assist with invasive species, Mesic Area restoration, and conifer encroachment on grasslands. Landowners in Petroleum, Fergus, Musselshell, Garfield, and Rosebud Counties may apply.
We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis. Please contact Desi Seal, our Conservation Programs Manager (desi@winnettaces.org) to request an application or inquire about the program.
